Meet The 2023 Philadelphia Eagles Practice Squad

As the Philadelphia Eagles cut the regular season roster down to 53 players on Tuesday, fans kept their fingers crossed in hopes that some players made it through waivers unscathed.

Philadelphia signed 13 players to its practice squad on Wednesday.

Eagles fans will be happy to see a few training camp standouts on the practice squad, including wide receiver Joseph Ngata and cornerback Mekhi Gardner.

Unfortunately, some potential key contributors were picked up by other teams.

Former Eagles assistants Jonathan Gannon and Shane Steichen kept their eyes on the Eagles’ roster cuts, scooping up two of their former players on waivers.

A former defensive coordinator, Gannon picked up safety K’Von Wallace to become a part of his new team in Arizona. Meanwhile, Josh Sills will get a second chance in the NFL in Indianapolis after rejoining Steichen with the Colts.

By being claimed on waivers, both players will guarantee themselves a spot on an NFL roster ahead of the regular season.

Philadelphia Eagles Practice Squad 2023

Interestingly, Philadelphia will be carrying four wide receivers on the practice squad in 2023.

That makes sense, especially with Quez Watkins and Olamide Zaccheaus nursing injuries heading into the regular season.

With an already deep room of defensive backs, Mekhi Gardner was the only cornerback to make it on the practice squad.

Meanwhile, it appears that punter Arryn Sippos will stay with the team for now as a member of the practice squad. If Philadelphia can’t find a replacement, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Eagles open the season with Sippos on the active roster.
