Eagles-Colts Fight At Joint Practice Thanks To Derek Barnett

The Philadelphia Eagles hosted the Indianapolis Colts for a joint practice session to end training camp on Tuesday.

The session was meant to serve as the Eagles’ final training camp practice and help the team get prepared for the regular season.

However, it seems like the Eagles’ intensity is already in midseason form.

Eagles-Colts Fight At Training Camp Practice

Eagles’ defensive end Derek Barnett instigated another practice scrum on Tuesday, according to Eliot Shorr-Parks.

Barnett apparently hit Colts’ rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson, causing a fumble on the play.

Normally, these types of plays don’t end up in hits on the quarterback. Instead, ‘sacks’ are called early to protect players from injury.

Obviously, the Colts didn’t like that and rushed to protect their future franchise quarterback, starting a fight between the two teams.

Then, practice started to get feisty.

As both teams ran over to the scene, Jalen Carter needed to be restrained by his teammates.

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Barnett has drawn attention during the preseason. He also was at the root of a joint practice altercation between the Eagles and Browns last week.

The fight comes at a curious time for both franchises, who were linked by trade rumors in the morning after the Colts’ granted Jonathan Taylor permission to speak to other teams.

Eagles Fans React To Another Derek Barnett Practice Fight

Some Eagles fans on X have started to grow tired of Barnett’s antics.

Check out some of the reactions below.

Apparently, Barnett continued jawing long after the fight was over.

Other fans noted that Barnett isn’t picking on his opponents. He’s even gotten into fights with his teammates. Apparently, he only has one gear when he steps on the gridiron.

Other reports began to surface that Barnett even punched Richardson. Though these reports are likely exaggerated.

For now, it looks like Barnett isn’t concerned about making friends on the practice field.
