Eagles Roster Moves: DT Sagapolu Signed; LB Bradley To Injured Reserve

The Philadelphia Eagles came up short in their preseason opener on the road in Baltimore against the Ravens.

The Ravens managed to escape with a 20-19 victory, extending their preseason win streak to an impressive 24 games.

More importantly for Philadelphia, the Eagles lost a key member of their defense and special teams unit. Linebacker Shaun Bradley went down with an injury in the third quarter and was carted off of the field. Visibly distraught, it seemed inevitable that Bradley may have played his last game in an Eagles’ uniform.

An impending free agent, the Eagles announced that Bradley would be out for the season with an Achilles injury. Shortly after, the organization moved quickly to shore up the roster with a pair of roster moves ahead of Monday’s joint practices with the Cleveland Browns.

Philadelphia placed linebacker Shaun Bradley on injured reserve and subsequently signed former Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Olive Sagapolu.

Shaun Bradley Placed On Injured Reserve

Following a gruesome injury in Saturday’s preseason game against the Ravens, Bradley’s placement on Injured Reserve confirmed what Eagles’ fans feared the most.

The linebacker suffered a torn Achilles and will be out for the season, possibly ending his tenure in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, Bradley was in the last year of his deal.

The move will open up another spot on the Eagles’ depth chart and 53-man roster

With four seasons under his belt with the Eagles, Bradley turned into an ace for the special teams unit. The native of New Jersey played in 45 games and secured 20 tackles during his Eagles’ career.

Eagles Sign DT Olive Sagapolu To Bolster Defensive Line

Olive Sagapolu is a big 6-foot-2, 341-pound defensive tackle that could help provide Philadelphia with some depth on the interior defensive line.

Sagapolu had a recent stint with the Pittsburgh Maulers in the United States Football League during the spring. He finished with 22 tackles and four sacks for the Maulers, making him an intriguing fit with an Eagles’ defense that likes to get pressure up the middle.

The 26-year-old has played in the NFL since 2019, spending time with the Packers, Lions, and Falcons along the way.

In college, Sagapolu performed well at the University of Wisconsin, where he notched six sacks and one interception in four years at defensive tackle.
