Two Philadelphia Eagles players were forced to be carted off of the field during the team’s NFL Preseason Week 2 contest versus the Cleveland Browns on Thursday.
Wide receiver Tyree Cleveland and rookie defensive linemen Moro Ojomo both left the field on the medical cart after sustaining scary neck injuries.
While the team confirmed that the players had movement in their extremities, no other reports were released on the well-being of Cleveland or Ojomo.
“I haven’t talked to the doctors yet but it sounds like they’re moving around,” coach Nick Sirianni said. “I don’t know anything else besides that.”
Fans Shocked After Scary Moments For Cleveland & Ojomo
Fans in attendance at Lincoln Financial Field were in shock as two players from the Eagles suffered scary head injuries versus the Browns.
The most agonizing moment came when receiver Tyree Cleveland landed on his head and neck while attempting to make a diving catch in the third quarter.
Meanwhile, Ojomo was involved in a collision with one of his teammates and went to the ground early in the fourth quarter
Both players were on the ground for several minutes before being placed on stretchers with their teammates surrounding them.
The scariest moments surrounded the injuries to Cleveland, who landed on his head/neck area while attempting to make a diving catch, and Ojomo, who appeared to get accidentally hit by one of his teammates on a separate play.
Both players stayed on the ground for an extended period of time before being placed on stretchers as teammates surrounded them.
“Your heart goes out to them first and foremost, and you just think about your teammate,” said quarterback Marcus Mariota after the game. “We play a game and it’s a blessing to play a game but when these situations get like that, it is scary.”
Several Other Eagles Go Down With Injuries
The game, which ended in a rare tie, featured a number of injuries for the Eagles.
Cornerback Zech McPhearson suffered an ankle injury early in the second quarter and was ruled out shortly after.
Rookie first-round pick Nolan Smith and wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus left the game with shoulder injuries while Josh Andrews exited with a left ankle injury in the first half.
Smith spoke to reporters after the game and revealed that he is “feeling good” and was removed from the game due to precautionary reasons.
However, things don’t look as bright for McPhearson, who was unable to put any weight on his right leg after deflecting a pass.
