The Cleveland Browns will head to Lincoln Financial Field on Thursday evening for a preseason battle versus the Philadelphia Eagles.
This matchup has quickly been heating up after the teams shared joint practices this week but not every player agrees with the reports from the media. In fact, Deshaun Watson took to X (formerly Twitter) to refute a report from esteemed Eagles’ beat reporter Eliot Shorr-Park.
In response to a report about his performance versus the Eagles’ defense, Watson simply posted a photo of a baseball cap to indicate that Shorr-Park was stretching the truth.
Shorr-Park was unforgiving in his analysis, which may have struck a chord in Watson, who is trying to regain the form that made him one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
“The pass rush definitely got the better of Watson as he was really only effective in 7v7, not 11v11,” Shorr-Park said in the tweet.
Browns Reporters Refute Reports From Eagles’ Camp
Apparently, Watson didn’t take the comments of the Eagles’ defense getting the best of him too lightly. However, some reporters in the Browns’ media did disagree with Shorr-Park’s assessment, especially on his overall stats.
It’s hard to know what exactly Watson and Browns’ fans are refuting.
There were multiple reports out of Eagles’ camp that Watson was picked off three times by safety Reed Blankenship. Shorr-Park also mentioned that the Browns’ QB appeared to be putting in the work in the offseason and highlighted his ability to make special throws.
Watson Did Make Some Nice Throws vs Eagles
Of course, it wasn’t all bad from Watson either.
Here is a nice throw that he made to tight end Jordan Akins for a score in tight coverage.
He also threw a nice jump ball to Browns’ rookie Cedric Tillman.
While Watson may have felt like he got the better of a team fresh off of an appearance in the Super Bowl, Cleveland did give its starters some playing time during the first preseason game, which may have helped the Browns come out with more intensity on Day 1.
