D’Andre Swift: Eagles Are Hungry To Win The Super Bowl

D’Andre Swift told Associate Press lead NFL writer Rob Maaddi that he sees a hunger in the Philadelphia Eagles to get back to the Super Bowl, “starting from Coach Sirianni, all the way down.”

Maaddi asked Swift if he believes that the Eagles are coming into the 2023 season hungry to get back to the Super Bowl and win it.

“Most definitely, starting from Coach Sirianni, all the way down,” Swift said. “It’s the focus that everyone has on the team. When we walk in the building every single day, we’re just trying to get better every single day.”

Swift Showcases Talent In Eagles Preseason Debut

In his preseason debut against the Baltimore Ravens, Swift showed Eagles’ fans a glimpse of the speed and athleticism that he’ll bring to the backfield. He finished with two rushes for 24 yards, including an impressive 24-yard scamper on a cut-back zone read.

After piling up 156 catches in his first three seasons in Detroit, Swift is almost certain to get some work in the passing game, but it might not take long for him to start to steal the lion’s share of the workload in the running back room.

Last season, Swift finished with 542 yards and five touchdowns on 99 carries.

Yet, when he was on the field, he was more efficient than ever. Swift averaged 5.5 yards per tote and 8.1 yards per reception, both career-highs, but conceded early down and goal line work to former backfield mate Jamaal Williams.

A second-round pick in 2020, Swift ran for 1,680 yards and 18 touchdowns in his first three NFL campaigns.

However, he’s also been injury prone, missing at least three games in every season.

Despite his touches dropping by 30 percent, Swift dealt with shoulder and ankle injuries that caused him to miss three games last year.

Swift Sits Out Week 2 Preseason Tilt vs Browns

Swift will not play in Thursday night’s game versus the Cleveland Browns on Thursday evening.

The Eagles’ running back was among the players in street clothes ahead of the team’s Week 2 preseason game versus the Browns.

However, that’s probably a good sign for his place on the depth chart.

While Eagles’ fans might have wanted to get another dose of the team’s latest offensive weapon, it seems like Swift has locked up his role on the Eagles’ roster ahead of the regular season.
