The Philadelphia Eagles are known to have some of the best fans in the NFL. Not only are Eagles fans among the most passionate at Lincoln Financial Field, but they also travel well and aren’t afraid to support their team miles away from home.
That proved to be true on Wednesday, as a band of Eagles fans erupted into a spirited ‘E-A-G-L-E-S’ chant during the third game of the Philadelphia Phillies series versus the San Diego Padres. While this might have been completely expected in Philly, the game was actually being played across the country in San Diego, California.
Eagles To Open 2023 Season On The Road
The Philadelphia Eagles will open the 2023 NFL season on the road in Foxboro against the New England Patriots.
The Patriots will be honoring Tom Brady with a pregame ceremony, which will be a special moment for Eagles fans. Philadelphia infamously won the Super Bowl in 2017 over Brady, Bill Belichick, and the Patriots’ dynasty.
Philadelphia will enter Gillette Stadium as slim 3.5-point favorites on the road in what could be a trap game. The Eagles struggled to attack the Cover 1 defense last year, which is something they could see a lot of this week.
Phillies Remain Ahead In NL Wild Card Race
With the NFL season less than a week away, football fans across the country are gearing up for the start of the regular season.
However, in the MLB, teams are making one final postseason push to attempt to keep their seasons alive in October.
The Phillies are among the teams fighting for a playoff spot in the National League. Philadelphia (77-62) currently enters five games up in the NL Wild Card race.
The Phillies are joined by the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Red among the teams currently seated in a Wild Card spot. Meanwhile, the Miami Marlins and Arizona Cardinals aren’t far behind, sitting just a half-game back of the Reds for the final NL postseason slot.
