NFL Top 100: 7 Philadelphia Eagles Land On List of Best Players

The NFL Top 100 is a list of the best players in the league, as voted on by the players.

The rankings are based on an off-season poll organized by the NFL, where players rank each other’s performance from the past season.

In the 2023 edition of the NFL Top 100 list, the Philadelphia Eagles were well-represented with seven players being recognized, led by quarterback Jalen Hurts at No. 3. A.J. Brown was next on the list at No. 22, followed by offensive linemen Jason Kelce (No. 37) and Lane Johnson (No. 41).

Five of the Eagles’ seven players to make the list came on offense. Linebacker Hassan Reddick (No. 48) and Darius Slay (No. 65) were the only two Eagles’ defensive players in the top 100.

The honor recognizes the exceptional talent on the Eagles’ roster as they try to get back to the Super Bowl in 2023.

QB Jalen Hurts – No. 3

Leading the charge at an impressive No. 3 is none other than the Eagles’ dynamic quarterback, Jalen Hurts. Hurts finished his breakout season with an appearance in the Super Bowl, where he put together one of the best statistical performances ever. In Year 3, the Eagles’ QB threw for 3,701 yards with 22 touchdowns and only six interceptions while adding 760 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground. A dynamic dual threat, Hurts’ electrifying presence and versatility have solidified his place among the NFL’s elite players.

WR A.J. Brown – No. 22

A.J. Brown, the Eagles’ top wide receiver, solidified his reputation at No. 22 on the list with a strong debut season in Philadelphia. His explosive plays and ability to make contested catches have undoubtedly earned him this well-deserved spot. Last season, Brown torched single coverage, racking up 910 yards in 1 v 1 situations, more than any receiver in the NFL. All in all, he finished with 88 catches for 1,496 yards and 11 touchdowns in his first season in Philadelphia.

C Jason Kelce – No. 37

The heart of the Eagles offensive line, center Jason Kelce has secured the No. 37 spot for his work in the trenches. His remarkable command of the offensive line and ability to anchor the Eagles’ run game have made him a cornerstone of the team’s success.

T Lane Johnson – No. 41

The offensive line’s strength is further exemplified by tackle Lane Johnson, who comes in at No. 41 on the NFL Top 100 list. Johnson’s prowess in protecting the quarterback and paving the way for the offense has rightfully earned him this recognition. According to Pro Football Focus, Johnson earned an overall grade of 83.2 in 2022.

LB Haason Reddick – No. 48

Linebacker Haason Reddick has made his mark at No. 48, a testament to his relentless pursuit of excellence on the field. Despite playing on three teams in three years, Reddick has made his presence felt at every stop. He’s racked up double-digit sacks in three consecutive seasons and is fresh off of a career-high 16 sacks in 2023. His ability to create turnovers and penetrate the backfield have undoubtedly caught the attention of both fans and opposing quarterbacks.

CB Darius Slay – No. 65

Cornerback Darius Slay, known for his ability to lock down receivers, claims his spot at No. 65. Slay’s remarkable coverage skills and game-changing interceptions have consistently made him a key asset for the Eagles. In 2022, he led the NFL with the lowest passer rating allowed (36.2). He finished with 40 tackles and three interceptions, shutting down opposing wide receivers on a weekly basis, including NFL Offensive Player of the Year Justin Jefferson.

Last season, Smith finished with a career-best 1,196 yards and seven touchdowns. As a sophomore, Smith’s swift emergence as a playmaker is a glimpse of the bright future he holds in the league.
